Metroexpress Doha — Free On-Demand Feeder Vans for the Metro & Lusail Tram (2026)

🚐 Metroexpress is Doha’s free on-demand feeder: shared vans you book in an app to ride between your neighbourhood and the nearest Doha Metro or Lusail Tram station.

🚐 Service: Metroexpress | 🏢 Qatar Rail (operated by Karwa) | 📍 On-demand feeder

Unlike the fixed-route Metrolink buses, Metroexpress has no fixed routes and no timetable — you request a ride inside a defined service zone and a van is routed to you. It is run for Qatar Rail by Karwa, and rides are booked in the Karwa Taxi app.

📋 Essential Information

  • Service type: On-demand shared-van feeder
  • Coverage: 10 Doha Metro stations (6 on the Red Line, 2 on the Green Line, 2 on the Gold Line) and 7 Lusail Tram stations
  • Booking: Karwa Taxi app only — there is no hail or walk-up service
  • Fare: Free for metro and tram passengers (Qatar Rail)
  • Hours: In step with metro and tram operating hours

📖 How Metroexpress Works

Open the Karwa Taxi app, choose Metroexpress, and set your pickup point inside the zone of a covered station. The app pairs you with a shared van heading the same way, and drops you at the station (or brings you home from it). Because rides are pooled and routed live, there is no published route map to print — the zone boundaries live in the app and change as the service expands; new zones, including around Lusail and Al Maha Island, were added in August 2024.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is Metroexpress free?
Yes — it is a free feeder for Doha Metro and Lusail Tram passengers, like the Metrolink buses.

How is Metroexpress different from Metrolink?
Metrolink runs fixed routes on fixed loops from metro stations. Metroexpress is on-demand: no route, no timetable, booked per ride in the Karwa Taxi app within a station’s zone.
